The Hobie 14, designed by Hobie Alter and built by Hobie Cat, is a 4.3-meter catamaran introduced in 1967 with a cat rig and rotating spar. It displaces 108 kg and has a 2.3-meter beam and 0.2-meter draft. The Hobie 14 was the first Hobie Cat model, though the Hobie 16 later surpassed it in production numbers. Production for sale in the US ceased in 2004, but continued in Europe for several years.2:03 A TURBO variant added a jib, increasing the total sail area to 13.75 square meters.43:19 Aboard Hashtag Sal, Armando "Buda" recounted a solo passage from Guarujá to Cananeia on a Hobie Cat 14, where he capsized in a storm near Ilha Comprida.6:44
