The Panda 40 is a Robert H. Perry-designed cutter-rigged sailboat, built by Ta Shing Yacht Building Ltd. from 1983 to the present, with a long keel hull and a pilothouse variant. It measures 12.2 meters LOA, with a 3.9-meter beam, 1.8-meter draft, and displaces 13,154 kg. Aboard *Sailing Triteia*, a 1981 Panda 40 required a double-crane setup to unstep its mast at Seaview Boatyard in Seattle, Washington, because hardened Spartite had bonded the mast to the deck collar, initially lifting the entire boat.6:06 The crew scored the polymer to break the seal, revealing water intrusion and corrosion at the mast base.12:34 The Panda 40 design is similar to the Baba 40 and Tashiba 40.
