The Pearson Yachts 27 (TRITON 27) is an 8.2-meter masthead sloop designed by Doug Peterson, built by Pearson Yachts in 1984–1985. It features a fin keel with a spade rudder, a beam of 2.9 meters, a draft of 1.6 meters, and a displacement of 2834 kg. This model is the same as the US 27, built from molds Pearson purchased from US Yachts. A 1965 Pearson Triton 28, hull number 624, was available for refit in Brunswick, Georgia, featuring internal lead ballast and a fiberglass-over-wood rudder.5:04 Its deck showed cosmetic gel coat cracking but had a solid balsa core, while the cabin sole exhibited delamination.9:46 Aboard *Atom Voyager*, the crew replaced UV-degraded dodger windows on a Pearson Triton 28 using 30-gauge marine-quality clear vinyl.0:18 The Pearson Triton 28 is considered an affordable, ocean-capable platform, with project boats priced between $4,000 and $18,000, though its balsa-cored deck requires a thorough soft-spot survey.4:52
