What the fleet has seen

The Sabre Yachts 42, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Sabre Yachts 42 is a masthead sloop designed by Roger Hewson and built by Sabre Yachts between 1987 and 1989, featuring a fin keel with a rudder on skeg. It measures 12.7 meters LOA, with a 3.9-meter beam, 2.1-meter draft, and 8527 kg displacement. Aboard *Sailing Palomita*, a Sabre Yachts 42, the crew undertook a six-day passage from Victoria, British Columbia, to San Francisco, California, navigating 20-to-30-knot winds and steep seas south of Punta Gorda.10:55 They timed their San Francisco Bar arrival with the transition to flood tide for a smoother entry.12:31 After three weeks in San Francisco, including docking at South Beach Harbor and anchoring at Aquatic Park, they departed for Half Moon Bay, delaying six days to avoid a low-pressure system.9:03 The vessel continued south along the California coast, rounding Point Conception in calm conditions and anchoring at Santa Rosa Island for four nights.1:36 The crew later moved to Santa Barbara, spending one night at anchor and two on a dock, before a 50-mile run to Redondo Beach after a wind shift made their Santa Cruz anchorage untenable.4:45
