The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Ds is a masthead sloop designed by Garonni, Briand, and Philippe Briand, built by Jeanneau from 2004 to the present. It has a fin with bulb and spade rudder hull, measures 15.0 m LOA with a 5.0 m beam, 2.1 m draft, and displaces 12,700 kg. Aboard *Leading the Escapade*, liveaboards Janae and Jason considered purchasing a storm-dismasted 2005 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Ds in Tampa, Florida, which lacked a mast, rigging, and sails, and had a seized turbo, corroded alternator, and mold.3:55 They found the boat's windlass, bow thruster, electric winches, water pumps, and engine functional, but the inverter and engine kill switch failed.12:49 The cost to restore the boat to seaworthy condition was prohibitive. A Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Ds named *Alani* was seen anchored off Dravuni island in Fiji, where its Hawaiian crew participated in a sevusevu ceremony.17:15
