Design & history

The Super Sailfish MKII is the fiberglass successor to the original plywood Sailfish (1948), introduced in 1959 by Alcort. It was soon eclipsed in popularity by the Sunfish.

Design

Successor to the original Sailfish, first introduced in 1948. The original Sailfish was built of plywood and many were sold as kits; the MKII introduced fiberglass construction in 1959.

Production

Alcort produced several hundred Super Sailfish a year. The fiberglass MKII was introduced in 1959 and the original plywood Sailfish was discontinued shortly afterward. Many original Sailfish were sold as kits.
