Two anchors deployed from Epiphany are inspected using a clear-bottom bucket — a glass-bottomed viewing bucket held over the side while motoring slowly over the anchor ground.0:13 Gordon drives while the other crew member directs him by calling port and starboard corrections until the chain and anchor come into view below.1:07 The water is clear enough to see the bottom in detail without snorkeling.4:09 After locating both anchors, the crew confirms neither is set: both are lying flat on the bottom, unhooked.3:49 The boat has been held in position only by the weight of the anchor chain, not by the anchors digging in.7:03 The inspection also reveals that one anchor is oriented hard to port, which explains why reversing hard had not set it.0:46 The clear-bottom bucket proves faster than snorkeling for checking anchor set in calm, clear-water anchorages, but the technique only matters if the crew acts on what they find — here, both anchors need to be reset.
