The Raymarine wheel-drive autopilot on a C&C 39 failed due to cracked plastic bearing races within the drive unit, causing the internal bearings to fall out.1:00 After replacing the drive assembly, the system still displayed a "drive stopped" error and failed to move the wheel.4:50 Voltage testing at the motor plug revealed only 1.35 volts instead of the required 12 volts.6:05 Backtracing the wiring to the autopilot computer confirmed that the fuses were intact, but a loose ground wire connection at the computer terminal prevented the motor from receiving full power.7:43 Tightening the ground wire restored the necessary voltage, allowing the autopilot to execute course corrections.8:01 Replacing the worn drive unit and securing the electrical connection restored full functionality to the steering system.
