Crew tests water pump with headlamp aboard sailboat
Qué cubre este vídeo
The owners of a boat under refit pressure-tested their newly installed freshwater system, which includes a hot water tank, PEX plumbing, and a 12-volt Jabsco Par-Max five-diaphragm water pump.0:14 The test revealed two minor leaks at threaded fittings, which were resolved with thread sealant tape.9:40 However, the pump generated 80 to 86 decibels of noise, causing significant vibration through the bulkhead where it was mounted.8:17 Attempts to isolate the pump using flexible hose and foam matting failed to reduce the noise, as the bulkhead acted as an acoustic chamber.13:47 The owners determined that the diaphragm-style pump’s mechanical vibration is incompatible with its current bulkhead mounting location.14:34 They plan to research and test alternative, quieter pump technologies to replace the current unit.15:21 The pressure test confirmed that the PEX plumbing runs and other system components are otherwise sound and leak-free.16:40
