Qué cubre este vídeo
Nova Loman installs a dedicated through-hull fitting and ball valve for the galley sink drainage on her 1970s sailboat to replace a shared drainage system that caused poor flow and odors. She drills the new hole through the hull, grinds away the silicone-based antifouling paint, and removes the wood core around the opening to replace it with fiberglass for a watertight seal. After completing the plumbing, she prepares the hull for launch by cleaning, priming, and applying a new coat of antifouling paint in sections to accommodate boatyard supports. She also polishes the hull to restore the finish damaged by fenders. With the bottom work finished, she prepares to step the mast while navigating through thick fog. Proper through-hull installation requires removing the core material to prevent water ingress, while sectioned painting allows for maintenance around support stands during a haul-out.
