Qué cubre este vídeo
The crew of the 53-foot cutter SV Delos performs a multi-day haul-out to service the hull, propeller, and through-hull fittings.0:01 After removing the vessel from the water, the crew sands the hull to remove old antifouling paint and addresses two areas of poor barrier coat adhesion on the cast iron keel by grinding, acid-washing, and filling with epoxy. They replace the seals and bearings on the bow thruster after discovering a failed spring caused a leak. Additionally, the crew installs a line cutter on the propeller shaft and repairs a corroded gray water tank through-hull fitting by reinforcing the surrounding fiberglass with epoxy and filler. The project includes testing a new copper-free, environmentally friendly bottom paint and a slick propeller coating to inhibit soft growth. While the boat remains in the yard, the crew stays in a borrowed apartment to accommodate their infant daughter. Proper surface preparation and the use of a vacuum sander significantly accelerate the removal of old bottom paint.
