The cockpit sole restoration on the 45-ft Liberty 458, Antidote, continues with the installation of a G10 backing plate for the pedestal base. After routing the hole in the Permateek panel using a vacuum jig and a two-flute straight cutter, the pedestal support is bonded into place using fiberglass tubes and Total Boat Thixo pre-thickened epoxy. To raise the sole to the correct height without adding excessive weight, H130 Divinycell foam is bonded with epoxy and reinforced with 1708 fiberglass cloth.

Separately, the engine on a 30-ft Newport, Odyssey, suffered a catastrophic failure in Bellingham Bay, likely due to a malfunctioning low oil pressure alarm. A replacement Yanmar 3GM30 engine, sourced from Port Townsend, is currently undergoing diagnostic testing at home. The engine exhibits a clicking noise near the injector pump, prompting plans for a compression test, a leak-down test, and a fuel filter inspection to determine if a rebuild is viable. Regular testing of the low oil pressure alarm system prevents catastrophic engine failure.
