Qué cubre este vídeo
Solo sailing requires specific techniques for managing the boat from the cockpit and navigating complex currents. When anchoring alone, use a buoy to mark the anchor position and leverage the boat’s natural rocking motion to assist the windlass when retrieving the chain. To maintain control while sailing solo, route all sail controls—including the genoa, mainsail, and mizzen—to the cockpit, and utilize roller furling systems. A large, 12-inch chart plotter is essential for monitoring wind, speed, and route data simultaneously. When navigating areas with strong currents, use the chart plotter to align the boat’s heading with the actual path over ground to avoid crabbing and maintain speed. For marina entries, disconnect lifelines using quick-connect fittings to facilitate easier access to the dock. Motor-sailing helps maintain steerage and apparent wind speed when light winds and opposing currents threaten to push the boat toward hazards.
