Qué cubre este vídeo
After seven months in Canada, the crew returns to their catamaran, Nahoa, stored on the hard in Apataki, French Polynesia. The vessel shows no signs of mold or mildew, and the batteries remain at 100% charge, though the protective shade netting has disintegrated from UV exposure. The owner initiates a comprehensive refit to prepare for a 2,500-nautical-mile passage to New Zealand. Primary maintenance tasks include a full sail drive overhaul, specifically replacing the rubber diaphragms, and repairing structural cracking in the forward anchor locker’s gelcoat and Interprotect coating. The owner removes the sail drives by disconnecting them from the engines and pulling them through the interior of the boat. Additional work includes upgrading the windlass and installing Starlink for connectivity. The owner notes that while a new expedition-style boat is in the design phase, the current vessel requires these repairs to ensure seaworthiness for the upcoming season.
