Qué cubre este vídeo
The owners of a Lagoon 410 S2 perform a DIY maintenance and repair of their two-blade SPW feathering propellers after discovering the blades were installed in reverse. The process involves disassembling the units, replacing worn internal damping elements, and cleaning the components with citric acid to remove calcium buildup. After sourcing replacement parts directly from the manufacturer in Bremerhaven, the crew reassembles the hubs using marine grease and installs new distance sleeves. During reassembly, the owner corrects the blade orientation by rotating them to ensure the larger curves face aft, as specified by the manufacturer. The maintenance concludes with the application of a silicone-based coating to prevent marine growth and a final lubrication using a grease gun to purge old grease and water from the internal cavities. The repair restores the propellers to near-new condition for a fraction of the cost of replacement units. Proper blade orientation and the use of appropriate shims to eliminate axial play are essential for the correct operation of feathering propellers.
