While transiting the Erie Canal toward Lake Oneida, the 40-ft sailboat Lady K assists a buddy boat, Begari, which runs aground after ignoring a temporary red navigation marker.9:06 The grounding occurs in shallow water near a dredge site, leaving Begari stuck sideways.9:36 Tim, the owner of Lady K, initially attempts to pull the vessel free using a tow line but abandons the effort to avoid grounding his own boat in the restricted channel.15:32 The crew eventually secures a line from Begari to a tree on the bank and uses the boat's winches in combination with the Lady K dinghy to pivot the grounded vessel 90 degrees.21:23 Once repositioned, Lady K connects to Begari’s bow and successfully pulls the boat back into the channel.26:57 Earlier in the day, Begari experienced engine overheating due to a failed raw water pump bearing.6:04 The crew also announces an appearance at the 50th anniversary Annapolis Boat Show on October 12.28:21
