A camper van electrical system exhibits intermittent solar charging and power loss due to multiple loose terminal connections and undersized wiring.0:32 Troubleshooting reveals that a 3000-watt inverter is connected with 4-gauge wire, which is insufficient for the load, while loose connections at the charge controller and main system kill switch create high resistance and heat.13:30 The charge controller’s performance is further hampered by an incorrect rotary switch setting that overrides programmed charging parameters, preventing the batteries from reaching a full 14.4-volt charge.20:56 Additionally, the system lacks proper fusing for the battery bank and alternator charging circuit.12:04 Recommended fixes include restripping and securing all loose wires, installing ferrules for better terminal contact, and upgrading to a Lynx distributor or Blue Sea Safety Hub to centralize and correctly fuse all connections.5:58 Replacing the undersized inverter cabling and correcting the charge controller’s battery preset to "user defined" will restore proper charging cycles and system stability.20:46
