The crew of the crew's child - Frothlyfe installs a custom stainless steel solar arch and davit system at a marina in Phuket, Thailand, to increase the vessel's off-grid power capacity.0:24 The new structure supports over 1,200 watts of solar panels and provides dedicated storage for surfboards, replacing the previous davits.0:34 The design includes a specific offset to accommodate the future installation of a Hydrovane self-steering system, which the crew intends to use for ocean crossings.12:58 During the refit, the crew also addresses failing Raymarine C-series chart plotter and instrument displays by sourcing a local technician to replace the sun-damaged LCD screens, opting to repair existing hardware rather than replace the entire integrated system.5:23 After three weeks of yard work, the crew cleans the dinghy, tests the newly serviced autopilot drive motor, and departs the marina.18:16 The upgraded arch provides increased clearance for boarding and swimming from the stern.17:09
