During the transit, they navigate through the Gulf of California, anchoring at Honeymoon Cove on Isla Danzante. The crew encounters challenging sailing conditions, including steep six-foot seas and 30-knot gales, requiring frequent reefing of the sails. While anchored, the crew observes local wildlife, including dolphins and pelicans, and attempts a failed rescue of a stranded dolphin. Upon reaching Puerto Escondido, the owner repairs a malfunctioning roller-furling Genoa by epoxying a damaged drum assembly component with Marine-Tex. The crew also rents a car to visit the San Javier Mission in the mountains near Loreto. The trip concludes with a guest departure from the local airport.
