Ce que couvre cette vidéo

The crew of SV Delos decides to build a custom 52.5-foot aluminum expedition catamaran, shifting their focus from long-term cruising to a multi-year boat-building project.22:10 They partner with designer David de Villiers to adapt his 62-foot catamaran design into a smaller, more manageable vessel.3:58 Key design requirements include a forward cockpit for sail handling, a protected interior helm, and a massive solar array capable of generating 16 to 18 kilowatt-hours per day.5:29 The boat will feature watertight bulkheads separating the engine room and accommodation, along with 4-millimeter aluminum hull plating designed to comply with Lloyd’s Special Service Craft rules for durability.13:18 The construction will take place in a boatyard in Queensland, Australia, where the crew is currently learning metal fabrication techniques, including welding and frame construction.19:56 The project will involve a full interior fit-out and potential hybrid diesel-electric propulsion.22:40 The crew plans to document the entire build process, from CNC-cut metal assembly to final outfitting.23:54
