Ce que couvre cette vidéo
After spending 20 days in Sorong, Indonesia, performing mechanical repairs in extreme heat, the crew of Learning By Doing departs for the Raja Ampat archipelago. The vessel, a sailing catamaran, underwent significant maintenance including the installation of new alternators, a gearbox, a propeller shaft, and a rudder. Despite initial engine start-up failures caused by wiring errors, both engines are fully operational for the 40-mile passage to the anchorage at Friwen. During the transit, the crew encounters a large pod of whales and catches a mackerel using a hand line equipped with a shock-absorbing bungee. Upon arrival at Friwen, the boat anchors in 26 meters of water, with 80 meters of chain and rode deployed to achieve a 3.5:1 scope. The crew reports the vessel is 90% functional, pending the arrival of a new clutch cone from Australia.
