Matt and Jessica, currently building a 42-foot catamaran at Kentmore Marina, enlisted a professional contractor to demonstrate proper fairing and spray-priming techniques.0:33 The contractor provided instruction on using a DA sander and spray gun to apply Total Boat high-build primer, allowing the pair to complete the master shower walls in six hours.4:32 Following this, the builders fabricated non-structural interior shelves using plastic honeycomb material laminated with 12-ounce double-bias fiberglass and Total Boat polyester resin.12:04 To ensure a smooth finish, they applied peel ply during the lamination process.12:46 While destructive testing confirmed a strong bond, the builders noted that vacuum bagging or using chop strand mat would better conform to the honeycomb’s dimpled surface for future structural applications.14:42 The team continues to use the contractor’s borrowed tools to fair and prime additional interior surfaces, including the owner’s hall.15:52
