Multiple sailors describe what the Færder race means to them, building a portrait of Norway's largest and most popular offshore regatta on the Oslofjord. Participants call it "sailors' 17th of May" — a national folk festival on the water — and describe the fjord filling with sailboats of every type, crewed by beginners sailing their first regatta alongside experienced racers. One sailor recalls that the Færder race was on their bucket list before they took up racing, and that their first time ever aboard a sailboat was during the Færder; fifteen years later they sail several times a week. Others describe the frustration of waiting in a calm for wind to fill in, then the reward when it does — more wind, more fun.1:05 The 2026 edition is noted as finishing in Moss, a new finish location for some participants, replacing the previous finish at Tønsberg. Stops and waypoints mentioned include Horten, Tønsberg, and the island of Færder itself, with the goal of sailing all the way in to Voss.
