Ce que couvre cette vidéo

An Argentine couple living aboard the wooden sailboat *Talía* recounts a near-fatal crossing of the Río de la Plata estuary early in their sailing careers.0:35 While attempting a 28-mile passage from Buenos Aires to Colonia, Uruguay, in their previous 26-foot sailboat, *Ibicui*, the crew encountered a rapid weather shift that escalated from 15-knot winds to 40-knot gusts.16:32 The sudden storm shredded the mainsail and genoa, caused the boom to swing violently, and resulted in 50 centimeters of water inside the cabin.17:03 With three of the five crew members incapacitated by seasickness and one suffering a panic attack, the owners issued a Mayday call.20:07 The Uruguayan volunteer rescue organization ADES responded within 40 minutes, towing the vessel to Colonia at speeds as low as one knot against heavy seas.22:18 The couple credits the experience with teaching them the limits of their vessel and the importance of maintaining crew composure during emergencies.25:08 They remain active supporters of ADES.12:58
