Ce que couvre cette vidéo
Gerard and Jacqueline, crew of the sailing yacht Avanti, perform maintenance and visit family while docked in Cairns, Australia. After clearing into Marlin Marina, they relocate to Yorkies Knob Marina to reduce costs. Entering Yorkies Knob requires precise tidal timing due to a shallow, shifting sandbar at the entrance, which is currently undergoing dredging.0:40 While the boat is docked, the crew travels to Adelaide to visit family, noting the city's resemblance to Cape Town. Upon returning to Cairns, Gerard replaces a degraded diesel day tank inspection gasket that had begun to disintegrate into the fuel, likely due to the use of improper rubber material sourced previously in Panama. He also conducts a routine mast and rigging inspection. The crew provisions for their upcoming transit toward the Great Barrier Reef and Thursday Island, citing the need to move north before the onset of cyclone season.
