Vacuum storage bags provide a solution for managing soft goods in damp, space-constrained boat environments like the bilge.0:51 Simon and Kim use these bags to organize seasonal clothing, bedding, and guest linens, which prevents mold and mildew growth while maximizing storage capacity.2:02 The process involves cleaning items thoroughly before packing, inserting a dryer sheet for freshness, and adding silica gel packets to absorb residual moisture.5:45 To maintain organization, they label each bag with its contents and track locations in an Excel spreadsheet.6:47 When storing items in the bilge, they ensure the bags do not obstruct water flow to the bilge pumps to protect electrical systems.7:22 These bags also facilitate the transport of hand-me-downs or bulky items during travel, though users must monitor weight to avoid exceeding airline luggage limits.4:47 Proper sealing and organization allow for efficient rotation of seasonal gear and quick access to guest supplies.
