Nick and Em, traveling in their van, visited Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding areas near Gardiner, Montana, to photograph wildlife.3:14 To capture distant animals, they rented a 200–600mm lens in Bozeman and paired it with a 2X teleconverter to achieve a 1200mm focal length.2:32 While the setup allowed for long-range observation, the high magnification made the footage difficult to stabilize and significantly reduced the aperture to f/11.11:31 During their week in the park, they observed a gray wolf near Slough Creek, bison, and a great horned owl.7:50 After failing to spot a grizzly bear within the park boundaries, they followed a local recommendation to a site north of the park.8:33 After six hours of waiting, they successfully located a sow grizzly and two cubs in a field.13:30 The experience highlighted the challenges of wildlife photography, specifically the difficulty of stabilizing long-range telephoto shots and the necessity of patience when tracking elusive animals in their natural habitat.
