Hull-to-deck joint with corroded fasteners and worn sealant

Cosa tratta questo video

Atom repairs a leaking hull-to-deck joint on a Pearson Yachts-USA Triton by removing deck hardware, including sheet tracks, stanchions, and chain plates.0:09 To access the interior fasteners, he cuts away sections of the fiberglass cabin liner, which he later modifies to be reattached with screws for future maintenance.3:02 After grinding the joint clean and cutting flush any protruding bolts, he fills gaps and holes with U.S. Composites 635 epoxy thickened with 406 filler and fumed silica.4:29 He applies fiberglass cloth over the joint using a chip brush to ensure a watertight seal.6:56 To finish, he removes the amine blush from the cured epoxy with warm water, sands the surface, and installs wood blocks to support the reattached liner panels.7:39 The project also includes adding a third bilge access hatch at the aft end of the cabin.9:19
