Project Brupeg · video

Cosa tratta questo video

Brupeg, a converted fishing trawler completing a decade-long rebuild, installs a rainwater catchment and filtration system using the vessel's large rear deck and wheelhouse roof as collection surfaces.0:28 Two 1-inch stainless hose tails are welded flush into the steel roof using autogenous TIG welding — fusing mild steel to stainless without filler wire — so no raised bead interrupts drainage flow.10:02 Temporary UV-degradable drink-safe hose runs from each roof fitting along the side deck to a 540-liter water bladder on the rear deck; camlock fittings allow the pipes to disconnect quickly and double as overboard drains when not collecting rain.13:07 The first five minutes of rainfall are dumped overboard to flush diesel residue and sediment before collection begins.14:57 Water then moves from the bladder through a one-micron sediment filter before entering the main tanks — never directly from the roof.14:57 A rusted mild-steel genset muffler leaking carbon onto the roof must be replaced with a stainless unit before the system is fully clean.2:56 Parts scarcity at their remote location shaped every fabrication decision, including the improvised hose-tail drain fittings.6:47 Keeping tanks clean for three years is attributed entirely to filtering everything before it enters the tank, including shore water.15:44
