Cosa tratta questo video

The converted fishing trawler Brupeg and a two-person crew (including Jess) conduct a multi-day marine debris cleanup on remote beaches near Lizard Island and Coconut Beach on Australia's Great Barrier Reef, funded by a GoFundMe campaign. The crew prioritizes large rope and fishing FADs first — items that fragment into microplastics if left — then works down to medium debris as weather and time allow.2:05 Coconut Beach proves consistently difficult: 20-knot winds, rollers, and surf breaking through the reef make dinghy landings dangerous, forcing the crew to abort one attempt and reposition Brupeg to the island's leeward side to wait out two days of bad weather.6:34 A navigation segment covers using Navionics and OpenCPN to thread shipping channels between Palfrey Island and Eagle Island, where vessels run at 12–19 knots and overtake quickly.17:25 Despite running all three nav apps plus a drone, the crew anchors on what they believe is coral near Lizard Island and relocates at night to a commercial shipping anchorage in 25 meters of water.18:55 A maintenance segment explains why galvanized chain requires galvanized shackles — mixing stainless hardware strips zinc and accelerates corrosion.23:38 The GoFundMe ultimately funded removal of an additional 500 kg of debris.27:17
