The Morgan Yachts 30 is a Masthead Sloop designed by Charles Morgan Jr. and built by Morgan Yachts between 1968 and 1971. It measures 9.1 meters LOA, with a 2.8-meter beam, 2.2-meter draft, and displaces 4762 kg. The model has a Keel/CB and spade rudder hull. Aboard *Salt & Tar*, a Morgan 30 required an in-water rudder repair after striking a submerged tree, bending the rudder shaft.10:32 The crew removed the rudder by catching it in a dry bag, straightened the shaft with heat and a mallet, and fabricated new G10 bushings.15:52 They reinstalled the rudder using life jackets for buoyancy and applied AquaShield grease to the shaft and bushings.16:12 The Morgan 30 has a similar kit-form variant, the KK30, and an updated version, the MORGAN CLASSIC 300, which features a different interior and a taller rig. A separate design, the MORGAN 30-2, was introduced in 1972.
