Adam and Luke sail their boat 150 miles from Wei Li Island to Banda, Indonesia, to anchor in deep water near an active volcano.1:13 Because the seabed drops to hundreds of meters deep just off the shoreline, the crew anchors in 30 meters of water and runs a stern line to a tree on the beach to prevent the boat from drifting into the trench.12:51 They use a snubber on the anchor chain to manage the load.14:50 After securing the vessel, they hike the steep, humid trail to the summit of the volcano, which last erupted in 1988, to observe the crater and steam vents.12:06 The crew also performs a field repair on their wind vane by restitching the stretched fabric to improve its tension and efficiency.6:22
