Johan and Malin reinforce the keel pocket of their boat hull by laminating 18 layers of 600g Bi-AX fiberglass in a single wet-on-wet session.6:27 The process increases the solid laminate thickness from 8mm to over 25mm to ensure structural integrity at the keel connection.6:35 Johan cuts the fiberglass into four varying widths to prevent hard spots at the edges, staggering the pieces to avoid stacking seams.10:21 The project requires 47 kilograms of glass and approximately 43 kilograms of epoxy.7:19 Because dropping temperatures thickened the epoxy during the late-night application, Johan uses a vacuum bag to ensure full saturation and eliminate air bubbles in the final two layers.15:34 A future keel grid will be installed over this reinforced area to further distribute structural loads.15:54 Outside of the boat project, the pair manages home renovations, including the installation of new clay roof tiles on their 1860s Skånelänga house and the removal of redundant concrete entrance stairs.17:30
