The restoration of the 111-year-old yacht Tally Ho requires the installation of hardwood deck blocking to support deck strakes, hardware, and structural components.0:13 These blocks, fashioned from Angelique, oak, and purple heart, fill voids between deck beams where deck plank nibs terminate or where through-bolted hardware like the capstan, anchor windlass, Samson posts, and bollards require backing.6:11 The team mills the blocks to fit square-cut pockets routed into the deck beams, then drills pilot holes for fasteners.3:13 In addition to blocking, the crew processes Alaskan Yellow Cedar stock into 2-inch thick by 3-inch wide deck planks by planing and ripping the timber to size.8:57 Work also progresses on the cockpit framing, including the installation of carlins and spur beams to support the deck and hatch structure.17:18 The completed blocks remain dry-fitted pending the installation of diagonal bronze strapping and final surface preparation.18:05
