Hva denne videoen dekker
The refit of the pocket catamaran Squib focuses on constructing a new aft bulkhead and door assembly, alongside an electrical system upgrade. To reduce weight, the bulkhead frame is built from 25mm wooden strips with Styrodur insulation inserts.8:37 The structure includes a dedicated section for a new helm seat and a mounting point for a folding table on the port side.9:33 Two 50x47cm safety glass panels, salvaged from an old aquarium, are integrated into the upper bulkhead section.13:13 The builder uses stainless steel wool to clean algae and calcium deposits from the glass before installation.13:30
For the electrical system, four Ecoworthy lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are purchased to replace existing power storage.20:09 Each unit measures approximately 17x26x22cm, requiring a custom-built battery box for installation.18:40 A 20-amp battery charger is also acquired as a backup for shore power, though the vessel relies primarily on 1400 watts of solar capacity.21:48 The bulkhead components are laminated with epoxy and fiberglass matting to ensure structural integrity.22:00 Pre-fitting the frames on the boat before final bonding prevents alignment errors caused by temperature-related material expansion.14:14
