Adam and Luke, the owners of the boat Atlas, are currently delayed in western Fiji while performing mechanical repairs on their engine and gearbox.▶ 1:15 The pair intended to sail to New Caledonia and then to Bundaberg, Australia, but mechanical failures and the need for parts from the UK have stalled their departure.▶ 2:45 Upon reaching Australia, the brothers plan to sail south to Hobart, Tasmania, to avoid the monsoon season and cyclone risks associated with heading north toward Indonesia during the Australian summer.▶ 3:39 This route change requires them to navigate the east coast of Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, adding thousands of miles to their journey.▶ 3:52 Because this detour will take approximately four months, the crew intends to apply for a visa extension in Australia to accommodate their revised cruising schedule.▶ 6:07 The brothers recently completed haul-out work at the Royal Suva Yacht Club in Fiji, where they received assistance from the local dive center.▶ 0:22
