O que este vídeo aborda
Lauren Landers troubleshoots a malfunctioning AIS and autopilot in Puerto Rico after a shakedown sail from St. Martin, where 25–30-knot conditions exposed both problems.0:29 Docked in a marina while waiting on delayed anchor chain — seven to ten days out — she works through a backlog of boat jobs: replacing cabin cushions, varnishing the saloon table, waxing the cockpit, and repainting surfaces with epoxy, supplementing with TotalBoat Bilge Paint when she runs short of epoxy colorant.12:33 The hot water heater element fails; a cross-threaded replacement causes a leak, and she installs a shutoff valve on the cold-water inlet to keep the system usable while waiting on a 3/4-inch tap-and-die set ordered from Amazon.6:09 The episode's emotional center is Squid, a stray cat she found near the marina, tamed over several days, and brought aboard.15:21 One day after a vet visit for vaccines and dewormer, Squid suffers an ivermectin toxicity reaction — paralysis, drooling, temperature dropping to 85°F — and dies roughly 60 hours later despite IV treatment.7:06 Ivermectin toxicity in cats can be fatal even with veterinary care, and activated charcoal given immediately may have been an option she did not know to try.30:28
