O pior do Caribe

O que este vídeo aborda

Cruising the Caribbean presents significant logistical and financial challenges for sailors, primarily due to the six-month hurricane season spanning June 1 to November 30. During this period, most marine insurance policies, including third-party liability, exclude coverage within the hurricane belt, forcing vessels to relocate to areas like Trinidad or Aruba. High demand for limited haul-out facilities in these safe zones drives storage costs to approximately 600 euros per month.

Navigation throughout the region frequently requires beating into the wind, as prevailing easterly winds combined with strong westerly currents cause significant leeway. Sailors also face high costs for basic provisions, with grocery prices in many island chains doubling compared to European averages. Customs procedures are often bureaucratic and time-consuming, requiring extensive paperwork for each island entry and exit. Environmental factors, including persistent rain, insect infestations, and plastic pollution in anchorages, further complicate the experience. While some southern islands offer clear water, the postcard-perfect conditions often require active searching. Ultimately, the Caribbean requires substantial financial resources and patience with administrative hurdles that differ significantly from European cruising grounds.
