Thilo and Leonie are currently in Carloforte, Sardinia, preparing to deliver a Lagoon 62 catamaran across the Atlantic Ocean to the Dominican Republic.0:46 The crew of four accepted an invitation to assist inexperienced owners with the passage, opting for this route instead of flying directly to their own vessel.1:21 The 18.9-meter-long, 10-meter-wide catamaran offers a significant contrast in comfort and scale compared to their own boat.2:48 The departure from Sardinia is currently delayed by a damaged dinghy davit, which failed after a collision with a buoy, causing the tender to drop and the structure to bend.4:14 Repairs are expected to conclude early in the week.4:41 The crew plans to sail to Mallorca to retrieve a sail before proceeding to Gibraltar.5:17 They intend to utilize Starlink for consistent internet connectivity throughout the crossing.5:25 The team aims to document the experience, including a forthcoming tour of the catamaran’s features and systems.5:34
