O que este vídeo aborda

Giuseppe prepares Maruzza, a sailboat based in a boatyard on the island of Salamina near Athens, for a passage to West Africa — a refit covering rigging, engine mounts, companionway safety, and a broken cabin window.0:37 After replacing all standing rigging the previous year, he steps the mast using a boatyard crane; a backstay shackle shorter than the original forces him to splice a carabiner into the navigation lamp hoist line to recover the lost length.1:22 A 20-year-old engine mount gets replaced with a new one laminated from five 1 cm sheets of phenolic marine plywood, ending up 5 cm thick total.4:32 A knockdown experience prompts him to fit retaining pins through the companionway boards so they cannot slide out of their tracks if the boat goes over.5:14 A brand-new plexiglass cabin window installed the previous year has cracked; he traces the cause to two installation errors — holes drilled too tight to allow thermal expansion, and too little silicone applied before screwing down.7:34 The replacement window uses oversized screw holes, a substantial silicone bed left to cure three days before final tightening, and silicone specifically (not polyurethane) because polyurethane solvents degrade plexiglass over time.9:35
