New orange bilge pump installed in boat's engine bay
O que este vídeo aborda
Josh single-hands an unplanned engine room refit aboard Nandji 2 at Hout Bay Yacht Club, Cape Town, after seawater ingress seized the original engine while the family was away travelling Africa.2:05 The old engine and generator have already been removed; this installment covers painting the bare engine room, installing new bilge pumps, and preparing the space for a replacement engine not yet chosen.2:17 Josh applies two to three coats of Sigma paint — an oil- and water-resistant white bilge paint — working in sections to avoid losing track of wiring, hoses, and sea-chest fittings.4:34 New stainless sea-chest valves replace corroded originals.6:26 Two new bilge pumps are wired in: a 3,000-gallon-per-hour primary and a 1,100-gallon-per-hour secondary, each with individual float switches; a third existing pump under the fuel tanks remains in place.8:14 A persistent fresh-water leak, traced to either the water tank or a line connection, goes unresolved.19:04 Hout Bay conditions feature prominently: a 67-knot gust recorded in the marina during a south-easterly event delays work for a day.0:57 Benita and Tallulah return to the boat at the episode's end.20:11 Working an engine room repaint in sections — rather than stripping everything at once — preserves the installer's memory of cable and hose routing.3:21
