What this video covers

The owners of the 1987 Warrior 38 Athena have decided to head south to Aruba for the upcoming hurricane season rather than north to the United States. Insurance requirements for hurricane coverage necessitate traveling as far north as the Chesapeake or staying south of 10 degrees north latitude. Aruba offers a lower crime rate than Trinidad and more affordable haul-out costs than the U.S. East Coast. Planned maintenance during the haul-out includes replacing a leaky oil pan gasket, repairing a damaged bow roller, investigating a steering issue by dropping the rudder, fixing a leaking water maker membrane housing, and installing a transom bathing platform. Before departing Barbados, the crew cleared immigration to purchase duty-free diesel, refueling with jerry cans to avoid damaging the hull against the fuel jetty’s plastic piping. The vessel is scheduled to sail 95 miles to Bequia in the Grenadines before continuing toward the ABC islands.
