What the fleet has seen

The Warrior 38, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Warrior 38 is a 1985–1987 cutter-rigged sailboat designed by Bill Dixon and Angus Primrose, built by Trident Marine, featuring a fin keel with a rudder on a skeg, an LOA of 11.6 meters, a beam of 4.0 meters, and a displacement of 8504 kg. Aboard *Sail Life*'s 1987 Warrior 38 *Athena*, the crew prepared for an Atlantic crossing by installing privacy curtains, applying Coppercoat anti-fouling to the wind vane rudder, and adding a secondary main sheet system to address boom flex.9:54 They installed a second spinnaker halyard, marked their 100-meter anchor chain, and activated the Coppercoat with a Scotch-Brite pad.9:29 The crew installed a new bronze through-hull fitting for air conditioning, integrated Ruuvi temperature sensors into the Victron Cerbo GX system, and fabricated a temporary cockpit table.6:18 They also installed a Locomarine Yacht Router Mini and Wi-Fi Booster for internet connectivity, insulated forward cabin lockers with Armaflex, and added a water filtration system.0:48 For an Atlantic crossing, the crew built a custom wooden dish organizer, performed an engine oil change, and updated plotter firmware.9:42 During a 2,000-mile Atlantic crossing, *Athena* experienced a steering failure due to an overly tight rudder bushing that expanded with engine heat, which the crew resolved by sanding the bushing.7:43
