What this video covers

Coverage of the METS 2025 marine equipment trade show in Amsterdam highlights new products across propulsion, safety, navigation, and deck hardware.

Yanmar's new electric inboard motor, available from 7 to 15 kW on a 48-volt system, is notably compact and fits the same engine bed as a diesel, allowing manufacturers to offer either option. Oceanvolt-style regeneration is supported. The DAME Award overall winner is a redesigned inflatable lifejacket with buoyancy added at the back, keeping the wearer's head higher in the water. Raymarine's new wind sensor integrates motion compensation internally, eliminating the need for a separate processor to correct mast-movement errors. Garmin shows a compact rigging-mounted camera; the former Oscar collision-avoidance AI system is rebranded CI-AI. Digital Yacht introduces a MOB button that transmits AIS position data to the chartplotter on a three-second press, and a new high-accuracy GPS receiver called OneFix that reads multiple frequencies. ACR's electronic distress flare uses LEDs instead of pyrotechnics. SeaDrive of Tønsberg shows a towed generator for large boats. Mad InTech's IMOCA autopilot AI is adapted for production boats. Carve's new clutch/rope clutch targets mid-range boats at lower cost. Nordsedge wins the materials category for a laminate sail made from recycled polyester and bio-based Dyneema. Webasto's SlimFit isotherm refrigeration unit is designed to save space in existing cooler boxes.
