Sail Life - SCAD TM1 and Raritan Marine Elegance head

What this video covers

The owner of a 1987 Warrior 38 named Athena performs two maintenance tasks on the vessel’s head and holding tank system. First, he replaces the broken hinges on a Raritan Marine Elegance toilet, noting that the soft-close mechanism had failed due to internal oil leakage. He secures a replacement hinge set from the manufacturer and reinstalls the seat and lid. Second, he installs a SCAD TM1 external capacitive tank level sensor on the plastic holding tank to monitor waste levels and prevent overflow. He cleans the tank surface with isopropyl alcohol and adheres two foil strips spaced two inches apart, as required for the 19-inch tank height. To prevent future accidental flushing when the tank is full, he wires the sensor’s alarm output to a relay connected to the head’s control box, which interrupts the flush circuit. He tidies the surrounding plumbing and secures the tank using its original four stainless fasteners. Calibration of the sensor remains pending until the vessel is underway.
