After repairing a cracked exhaust elbow on their engine in Fiji, the crew of the Sailing Brothers experienced a catastrophic oil leak during a sea trial.14:14 The leak originated from a rusted oil return hose, which had been compromised by long-term salt water dripping from the previously faulty exhaust elbow.16:41 After failing to find a replacement part locally in Nadi, the crew sourced a new hose from a yacht shop that shipped the component from overseas.17:36 Upon arrival, the new hose appeared to be a different size than the original, but the crew successfully installed it by routing it differently around the starter motor.22:59 Despite the repair, the engine failed to start during the final test, leaving the vessel without propulsion.25:12 The crew relied on sailing to reach anchorages throughout the troubleshooting process.18:31
