The Dazcat 1295 is a 12.9-meter fractional sloop catamaran with twin daggerboards, designed by Darren Newton and built by The Multihull Centre since 2017. It has a 6.6-meter beam, a 2.3-meter draft, and displaces 5500 kg. A custom Dazcat 52, a larger performance catamaran from the same builder, sailed a two-day passage from Puerto Williams, Chile, to round Cape Horn.1:06 Aboard *Sailing Sweet Ruca*, the Dazcat 52 maintained 9 knots of boat speed at an apparent wind angle of 43 degrees in 18 knots of wind during the rounding.17:55 The Dazcat 52 features electric winches and roller furling, enabling centralized control from the interior.4:39 The crew timed the passage to navigate open waters at night under light winds, aiming for favorable conditions at the islands.7:53
