The Lagoon 420 is a 12.6-meter fractional sloop catamaran, designed by Van Peteghem, Lauriot Prevost, and Lauriot-Prevost, and built by Lagoon Catamaran from 2007. It was introduced at the Annapolis Boat Show in October 2006 as the first series-produced sailboat with diesel-electric drives as standard equipment.7:55 The 420 was offered in owner or charter versions and was later updated as the Lagoon 421 before being replaced by the 2015 Lagoon 42. The model faced scrutiny for reliability issues and undersized wiring, leading to the cancellation of its hybrid program, as mentioned by All About Sailing.8:07 The Lagoon 421, seen by Sailing Doodles, required a manual bypass of the ignition switch to start its engines due to a faulty electrical connection.
