Qué cubre este vídeo
The owners of a Prout Ltd. Snowgoose 37 Elite, named Checkers, haul the boat at the Suva Yacht Club in Fiji to install a drive leg and perform bottom maintenance. After scraping barnacles and sanding the hull with 60 and 80 grit paper, the crew discovers extensive osmosis blistering on the rudders and the bottom of the keels. They consult a local fiberglass professional, Robert, who advises grinding out the blisters to reach solid laminate. The crew grinds out approximately 100 blisters, finding some saturated with moisture and others empty. They plan to seal the ground-out areas with fiberglass resin and thickened epoxy before applying new antifouling paint. During the process, the crew manages minor injuries from the grinder and monitors high tides to ensure the water does not reach the work area. The project highlights the labor-intensive nature of addressing superficial hull osmosis during a haul-out.
