The crew installs a cradle for a Revere six-person ocean-rated liferaft on the deck of their boat.Watch To ensure a watertight seal and prevent moisture intrusion into the balsa core, they use quarter-20 rivnuts wrapped in butyl tape.1:22 After marking the mounting points, they use a spring-loaded center punch to prevent the drill bit from wandering.1:58 They initially drill 5/16-inch holes, but find the fit too tight for the rivnuts, requiring them to enlarge the holes slightly with an 11/32-inch drill bit.3:53 The team applies butyl tape to the rivnuts, the screw heads, and the underside of the bracket feet to seal the installation.5:24 When the bracket holes do not align perfectly with the rivnuts, they enlarge the holes in the bracket feet to allow for adjustment.6:16 They secure the liferaft to the cradle using 550 cord.7:09
